In his latest interview, Rick Rule shares extraordinary insights based on four decades of investing in the resource markets. In this article, we picked out two topical and highly relevant questions that Rick Rule answers. First, is it wise to sell some gold and silver in order to move into platinum and palladium? ?I would prefer that people sold US Treasuries. I like all forms of bullion. I love John Mauldin?s quote that you want to own things that the enemy can?t print. Certainly gold & silver constitute that.?
Rick Rule goes on to say that, if pushed, the best form of bullion in terms of price appreciation for the next one to two years is platinum and palladium. It is not because of the monetary aspects of it, but because the industry does not earn its cost of capital at this price point. On the supply side, there is no above ground inventory. There is only new mine supply. At this price point, new mine supply is falling. The biggest platinum & palladium producer in the world is South Africa. They have experienced a 19% production decline in six years because the industry is not profitable at this price point. They are facing labor cost inflation, tax inflation, capital inflation, power inflation ? all those costs have to go up, and the industry cannot pay them because do not make any money at these costs at this price. At the same time, demand is increasing; it is increasing because the utility of platinum and palladium at this price point is extraordinary. The trade-off is platinum versus smog. Society believes that it gets a great deal at this price point.
So it is important to know that platinum and palladium prices MUST go up, and prices CAN go up.

Which investments are still safe? Is it smart to own cash?
We believe this is such a key point that it is worth taking the time to think about his answer. ?I think you need to hold some cash, and you have to acquaint yourself with the fact that liquidity is a tool in turbulent markets.
You need to have some dollars [cash] knowing that you will lose two or three percent compounded, because if turbulence increases, cash will give you the means and the courage to take advantage of the mistakes that others will make in a 2008-style market. So the first thing is that you need to choke down the fact that you are losing money in a real sense, and need to hold some cash. It is an ugly lesson, but you have to do it.
The second thing is that some of that cash ought to be a store of value that is a medium of exchange. I cannot tell the individual speculator whether he or she should be long gold, silver or platinum. Traditionally, the fear trade (which is what I am interested in) is gold. The greed trade (which is what Eric Sprott is interested in) is silver. The math trade is platinum.

I don't know how exactly you put it together.. But.. Your exciter and eq settings are very nice. I also like the way you panned your sends... As far as the music itself, I found it, "cinematic, and really nice to zone out and listen."

The idea of panned reverbs was an idea I got from Ill Gates in talking about how to get a more stereo sound with out resorting to expansion. It works really well with more cinematic music. Thanks for the listen.
If your shoes ever get too pungent, a little peppermint oil can freshen them up while you sleep.
All you have to do is soak a cotton ball or two with a little peppermint oil, and stick them in your shoes overnight. By morning, they should be much less offensive. You can also experiment with using more or less oil to adjust the strength of the effect, so you don't end up smelling like a box of Thin Mints. Of course, if you don't have any peppermint oil laying around, you could use baking soda, your freezer, dryer sheets, or cat litter instead.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) ? The advance of gay rights across the United States is spreading into Puerto Rico, making the island a relatively gay-friendly outpost in a Caribbean region where sodomy laws and harassment of gays are still common.
The governing Popular Democratic Party is pushing a bill through the legislature that would outlaw discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, a step taken by about half of U.S. states. Another bill would extend a domestic violence law to gay couples.
Soon after taking office in January, Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla signed an order extending health insurance coverage to the live-in partners of workers in his executive branch of government, regardless of gender.
And a popular former conservative governor, Pedro Rossello, surprised supporters and foes when he stated last month that he unequivocally supports gay marriage.
"We're in a period where it's important to talk about human rights," said Rossello, who 14 years ago signed a law as governor to prohibit the recognition of same-sex marriages held abroad.
"This is extraordinary," said Pedro Julio Serrano, a Puerto Rican gay activist. "We've reached a point of no return in Puerto Rico ... Equality is inevitable."
"The issues that we're discussing publicly now would have been unthinkable a couple decades ago," said Osvaldo Burgos, spokesman for the Broad Committee for the Search for Equality, which represents more than a dozen local human rights organizations.
Gay rights activists also say they are encouraged that the island's Justice Department is prosecuting its first hate crime case for the killing of a hairstylist who was set on fire.
The momentum has not all been one way, however. The island's Supreme Court last week narrowly upheld a law that bars same-sex couples from adopting children. Despite a string of legalizations in the U.S. over the past decade, adoptions by same-sex couples remain banned in many U.S. states as well.
And many Puerto Ricans remain uncomfortable with the changes. Church groups in February rallied an estimated 200,000 people against a move to include gay couples under domestic violence laws.
The spokesman for that march, Cesar Vazquez, said the state should not meddle with marriage and the family, and a prominent Puerto Rican pastor, Wanda Rolon, said children should not be taught at a young age that different types of families can exist, a proposal that Garcia's administration is considering.
"That is very dangerous," she said. "It's going to raise some doubts that can bring about confusion."
"What we need to protect in these times is the strengthening of marriage, the strengthening of families," Rolon said. "We will be a healthier society."
Resistance to rights for gays was even stronger in the 1970s, when gay activists protested the island's sodomy law, only to see legislators increase the penalty to 10 years in prison from three.
Many gays and lesbians lived in fear. A serial killer in the 1980s, nicknamed "The Angel of Bachelors," was linked to the killings of 27 gay men.
Public opinion remained largely unchanged until the early 2000s, when legislators passed a hate crime law and abolished the sodomy law. Another watershed moment occurred in November 2009, when police found the decapitated and partially burned body of 19-year-old college student Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado, known for his work with organizations advocating HIV prevention and gay rights.
Soon after, popular Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin announced he was gay, saying he couldn't remain silent amid such hate, and legislators began considering gay rights bills. Last year, Puerto Rican featherweight boxer Orlando Cruz apparently became the first professional boxer to come out as openly homosexual while still competing.
"Puerto Rico at last recognized that homophobia was a social evil that had to be fought," said Serrano, spokesman for the U.S.-based National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. "After that, things began to change quickly."
Many other islands in the Caribbean remain deeply hostile to homosexuality.
Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana and Grenada still uphold sodomy laws, and many gay people live in fear of exposure and violence. Those fears are not unjustified: Masked gunmen broke into a vacation cottage in St. Lucia in March 2011 and beat three gay U.S. tourists. Two of five suspects were arrested. A year earlier in Jamaica, police found the body of a 26-year-old gay rights activist who had been stabbed to death.
Last year, authorities in Dominica hauled a gay couple off a cruise ship and charged them with indecent exposure. Angry protesters have met gay cruise ships in Jamaica.
Meanwhile, a large gay cruise arrived in Puerto Rico recently and caused not even a ripple in the media.
"(Puerto Rico) has long had a reputation for being one of the friendliest places in the Caribbean," said LoAnn Halden, spokeswoman of the Florida-based International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association.
The court ruling on gay marriage already has caused some backlash in favor of further gay rights.
"What they did was barbaric," said Eduardo Bhatia, president of the island's Senate and member of the governor's party, saying that children of gay couples should have equal rights.
Carmen Milagros Velez, a medical sciences professor at the University of Puerto Rico and the mother of the 12-year-old girl at the center of the adoption case, said the Supreme Court should reconsider its decision.
"We are a family like any other, with the same challenges, probably even more challenges because we have fewer rights," she said.
When the Harvard Business Review interviewed Sir Martin Sorrell, the chief executive officer of WPP group, it asked him what his favorite ad of all time was.
The single ad that Sorrell can't forget is pretty big news considering that he's one of the most important people in advertising.
Rather than one of his affiliate's campaigns, however, Sorrell went with a surprising choice: A Berlitz ad by BTS United Oslo.
While the choice might seem random, as Sorrell told the HBR, "It's hysterical, really hysterical."

CAIRO (AP) ? U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was wrapping up a visit to deeply divided Egypt on Sunday with an appeal for unity and reform to the country's president and military chief.
A day after warning the country's bickering politicians that they must overcome differences to get Egypt's faltering economy back on track and maintain its leadership role in the volatile Middle East, Kerry was bringing a similar message to President Mohammed Morsi and his defense minister and intelligence chief. The U.S. is deeply concerned that continued instability in Egypt will have broader consequences in a region already rocked by unrest.
U.S. officials said Kerry will raise Egypt's key regional role with Morsi and his top security aides, stress the importance of upholding its peace agreement with Israel, cracking down on weapons smuggling to extremists in the Gaza Strip and policing the increasingly lawless Sinai Peninsula while continuing to play a positive role in Syria's civil war. Yet, with parliamentary elections approaching, his call for harmonizing domestic Egyptian politics is just as important, they said.
Liberal and secular opponents of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood say they will boycott upcoming elections, and violent clashes between protesters and security forces have created an environment of insecurity, complicating Egyptian efforts to secure vital international aid.
In meetings with Egypt's foreign minister and opposition politicians on Saturday, Kerry said reaching agreement on economic reforms to seal $4.8 billion in International Monetary Fund loans was particularly critical. Closing the IMF deal also will unlock significant U.S. assistance promised by President Barack Obama last year.
But the impact of his message of unity to the opposition was likely blunted as only six of the 11 guests invited by the U.S. Embassy turned up and three of those six said they still intended to boycott the April parliamentary election, according to participants.
Kerry said that the U.S. would not pick sides in Egypt, and he appealed to all sides to come together around human rights, freedom and speech and religious tolerance. Equally essential, he said, is uniting to undertake the reforms necessary to qualify for the IMF package. Those include increasing tax collections and curbing energy subsidies.
However, while expressing sympathy with the passion he heard from the opposition, Kerry suggested U.S. frustration with their tactics even as he maintained that "we're not here to interfere, but to listen."
"The best way to ensure human rights and strong political checks and balances ... is through the broadest possible political and economic participation," Kerry said after meeting Egyptian Foreign Minister Kamel Amr. "We believe that being active, engaging in peaceful participation is essential to building strong communities and healthy democracies."
In an apparent nod to the current stalemate in Washington over the U.S. federal budget, Kerry acknowledged that compromise is difficult yet imperative.
"I say with both humility and with a great deal of respect that getting there requires a genuine give-and-take among Egypt's political leaders and civil society groups just as we are continuing to struggle with that in our own country," he said. 'There must be a willingness on all sides to make meaningful compromises on the issues that matter most to all of the Egyptian people."
The opposition accuses Morsi and the Brotherhood of following in the footsteps of toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak, failing to carry out reforms and trying to install a more religiously conservative system.
Morsi's administration and the Brotherhood say their foes, who have trailed significantly behind Islamists in all elections since the uprising against Mubarak, are running away from the challenge of the ballot box and are trying to overturn democratic gains.
Egypt's polarization was underscored as Kerry arrived from Turkey on Saturday on the sixth of nine stops in his first official overseas visit as secretary of state. Activists in the Nile Delta city of Mansoura said a 35-year-old protester was killed when an armored police vehicle crushed him to death during anti-Morsi protests Saturday. And, in the restive Suez Canal city of Port Said, a police vehicle ran over five people after marching protesters refused to allow the car through.
Months of such turmoil have scared away tourists and foreign investors, eroding Egypt's foreign reserves by nearly two-thirds of what it was before the uprising. Those reserves, which stand at less than $14 billion, are needed to pay for subsidies that millions of poor Egyptians rely on for survival.
"It is paramount, essential, urgent that the Egyptian economy gets stronger, gets back on its feet and it's very clear that there is a circle of connections in how that can happen," Kerry told business leaders shortly after his arrival. "To attract capital, to bring money back here, to give business the confidence to move forward, there has to be sense of security, there has to be a sense of political and economic viability."
After concluding his meetings in Egypt on Sunday, Kerry will head to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, where his focus is expected to be the crisis in Syria that dominated his earlier stops in Britain, Germany, France and Turkey, along with concerns about Iran's nuclear program and growing Iranian assertiveness in the Persian Gulf. Kerry is set to return to Washington on Wednesday.
